The Riverbend Fishing Competition was held last Saturday at the Thornton Riverbend Holiday Park, attracting keen anglers of all ages. The event took place along the scenic Goulburn River, providing a peaceful yet competitive setting for participants. Adults and children competed for prizes, with the longest and second-longest catches of the day earning cash rewards.
In addition to the prizes, the event emphasised community contribution, with the remaining entry fees donated to the local CFA. This added a charitable aspect to the day, ensuring the competition was not just about winning but also about giving back.
Clear rules were set to maintain a fair competition, including designated fishing areas and entry requirements. The day concluded with an award ceremony at the gazebo, where winners were recognised for their efforts. A sausage sizzle followed, allowing participants to relax and enjoy the evening after a full day of fishing.
