Thornton Riverbend Holiday Park hosted the Big Freeze 10 on AFL Grand Final Day, with participants gathering to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The event featured a creative “Come as Your Hero” theme, which saw attendees dressing as their favorite cartoon characters, athletes, and other icons. The variety of costumes added a fun and engaging atmosphere, encouraging everyone to get involved.
The highlight of the day was the plunge into the icy pool, with participants experiencing firsthand the challenges often seen on television. This symbolic act aimed to raise awareness and funds for MND, while bringing people together for a meaningful cause. For those who preferred to stay dry, there were plenty of other activities to enjoy, including raffles and a best-dressed competition, which kept the crowd entertained.
Big Freeze Beanies and Socks were available for purchase, allowing attendees to contribute further to the fundraising efforts. A sausage sizzle was also on hand, providing a warm meal after the cold dip. The event offered something for everyone, with a focus on community support and collective action against MND.
